Founded in the spring of 2022, Shifting Ground Collective is Toronto’s home for emerging musical theatre talent. Hailed as a “company to watch” by both Intermission and NEXT Magazine, and chosen as one of Toronto Life’s Rising Stars of 2025, Shifting Ground is known for ambitious projects spotlighting the future generation of the city’s musical theatre stars. Our debut venture, Ordinary Days, was a critical success – landing 3.5/4 stars from the Toronto Star and a spot on their “Top Ten Breakthrough Artists of 2023” list. Our sophomore production of Merrily We Roll Along played to a completely sold out run, and raving audience reviews. Their 2025 production The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was recognized with three Dora Awards, receiving Outstanding Creative Direction and Outstanding Production in the Musical Theatre category, as well as the coveted Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award. Additional programming includes a slate of cabaret style concerts, community programming, and developmental efforts on original Canadian musicals.
